Abstract (EN)
In this study, the existence of the deindustrialization phenomenon that emerged as a result of neo-liberal policies in the 1980s in the Turkish economy will be investigated. The concept of deindustrialization generally refers to the transformation of economic activities from the manufacturing industry to the services sector. This concept, which was called structural transformation until the 1990s, took the name of deindustrialization with the advancement of globalization and capitalism after the 1990s and became a popular discourse. In the determination of industrialization, the decrease in the share of employment and real added value of the manufacturing industry is used as the basic criterion. The phenomenon of deindustrialization has emerged in different ways in developed and developing countries, and its reflections in Turkey have started to be seen since the 1980s. Putting the industry into the background in the economy and preferring the service-oriented growth model has caused Turkey to become more vulnerable to crises. In this study, considering the situation of sectoral developments in Turkey, whether there is a deindustrialization phenomenon in the economy has been investigated with the ARDL limit test approach.
