Özet (EN)

With the establishment of the People's Party in 1923, a long-term One Party process started in Turkey. The reactions against the policies implemented by the Republican People's Party, which was in power during the Single Party process, gave birth to an oppositional section within the party. This opposition group formed the basis of the Democratic Party, which came to power with the free will of the people. With the effect of the changing world order, which was the result of the Second World War, Turkey met the concept of "democracy" and started a multi-party political life. The fact that the Democrat Party came to power for the first time as an opposition party with the free will of the people and thus the concretization of the concept of democracy is of great importance for the History of Turkish Democracy. In this thesis, the opposition of the Democratic Party, which was founded with the transition to multi-party political life, the struggle to come to power, and the political developments after coming to power, how the political developments prepared the ground for the military intervention, were examined and analyzed in the 1957 early general election. .Keywords: Early Election, Democracy, 1957 Election, Democratic Party, Multi-Party Political Life.
