Özet (EN)

Ash glazes are variety of the artistic ceramic glazes that has served many different methods and purposes in ceramic glazes which survived from the past to the present, and discovered as a result of the combination of inorganic wastes resulting from the burning of organic materials in nature with the ceramic bodies. Ash glazes have been a kind of glaze that provides a wealth of expression in ceramic art and presents naturalism. In this research, samples were determined taking into consideration the soil structure, climate conditions and growing olive species of 10 different cities selected from the regions of olive cultivation in Turkey. The use of obtained ashes in ceramic glaze structures and firing at high temperature (1200oC) were taken as basis. The research consists of three parts: In the first part, ash glazes were defined, historical development was mentioned and the raw materials used in the production of these glazes and the properties of oxides were explained. In the second part, the collection, preparation and burning of olive kernels and woods, and some ceramic artists who have worked with these glazes were included. In the third part, the positive and negative aspects of ash glazes were compared according to the analysis results. Finally, the experiments with the ergiter selected ulexite and sodium feldspar were carried out at increased and decreased rates and samples showing positive properties were re-recorded with recombinant oxides and applied to three-dimensional ceramic forms. Keywords: Ash glazes, Olive wood ash, Olive kernel ash.
