Analysis of studies using concept cartoons in science education in Turkey

The aim of this research is to determine the general trends in research by examining the studies in which concept cartoons are used in science education in Turkey according to different variables. Within the scope of the research, 25 articles and 44 theses published between 2007 and 2023 were evaluated with the publication classification forms developed by the researcher using the publication classification forms in the literature. In this study, which is a descriptive research, document analysis was conducted. The information obtained as a result of document analysis is expressed in frequency and percentage values. According to the main research results, The university where the most studies were conducted is Manisa Celal Bayar University, the year in which the most studies were conducted is 2019, the most used keyword is concept cartoon, the learning area where the most studies are conducted is physical events, the most studied subject is the effect of teaching on academic success, the most used research method is quantitative research method, the most used data collection tools are tests, the most used data analysis method is quantitative data analysis, the most studied sample group is seventh grade students, and the most used dependent variable is academic achievement. In the light of the results obtained from the research, suggestions were made to researchers who will use concept cartoons in science education.
