A systematic literature review of graduate thesis on astronomy in science education in Turkey

The aim of this research is to conduct a systematic literature review of postgraduate theses on astronomy in the field of science education in Turkey and to determine what kind of a trend there is in the studies on astronomy in science education in Turkey. Systematic literature review method was used in the research. As a result of the review made from the national thesis center database of the Council of Higher Education, 61 postgraduate theses published between 2000 and 2023 were found. Using the thesis classification form for graduate theses, the distribution of theses by year was examined in terms of research levels, place of publication, sample level, sample selection method, size of the study group, method used, research technique, data analysis technique, test and scale distribution used. Tables and graphs were created from the data obtained. To ensure the accuracy of the research results, help was received from two experts and the results were checked to ensure the content validity of the research. As a result, it has been observed that postgraduate theses on astronomy in the field of science education have increased after 2018 and the most common postgraduate theses are master's theses. It is seen that the most postgraduate theses were published at İnönü University and Ondokuz Mayıs University. It was determined that the maximum sample size was between 0 50. In terms of sample level, the majority of studies were conducted with secondary school students. Achievement test, interview form and astronomy attitude scale were mostly used as data collection tools in graduate theses. Suggestions were made based on the results obtained.
