REVISION OF TURKISH FERULA L. (UMBELLIFERAE) (Ph.D. Thesis) Mehmet Sağıroğlu GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECNOLOGY JANUARY 2005 ABSTRACT In this research, the morphological, micromorphological, cytological and palinological characteristics, identification key, species descriptions and geographical distributions of taxa belonging to genus Ferula L. İn Turkey were presented. Threat categories of endemic and non endemic taxa of Ferula L. are arrenged again according to IUCN Red list Categories. The endemic taxa which have been known mostly from single locality and not collected for a long time were gathered, and their deficiency were completed. Polens and fruit of the taxa surfaces were examined in the electron microscopy. In the cytogenetical examination, chromosome number of 9 species were determined as 2n=22. In this study, fiye new species, two new subspecies and one combination et statu nova have been described. As a result of this study, now, Ferula has been evaluated under 23 species and 4 subspecies in Turkey.
