Traditional sculpture symposiums in Turkey

In this study Traditional Sculpture Symposiums in Turkey with their phases which have been passed until today from their beginnig have been examined what kind of effects they have made on city and society.Sculpture symposiums which were started in abroad in 1950s have been an activity that societies have been united fraternally after war, have made their arts and art have been exhibited out of museums and galleries. Sculpture symposiums in Turkey beginning dates back in 1975. The reason that difference between beginning date of sculpture symposiums in Turkey and in abroad was that society in Turkey were opposed to sculpture. The other factor was supporter wasn?t found for making Symposium in Turkey.During their studying in abroad, our sculptors noticed that symposiums which have magnificent features and when they were made in Turkey, they would bring alot of good effects for Turkey. So our sculptors strove to make sculpture symposiums in Turkey. As a result the first sculpture Symposium was made in Antalya in 1975. it wasn?t good and didin?t resemble the symposiums of abroad. Owing to some reasons, it was finish after 1976. But these things didn?t obstruct that symposiums were made again. Symposiums which were started again with Değirmendere Zühtü Müridoğlu Sculpture Symposium in 1993 were spread different cities of Turkey fom day to day. Initially symposiums which were made as nation-wide contunied to be made as international years after. With time they which were spread a great part of Turkey were made places which symposiums weren?t made in. Symposiums that were started With lead of University were made thanks to municipalities and supporters.These symposiums? positive effects are more than their negative effects.
