Abstract (EN)
The assessment of the trophic state of a lake is essential for planning actions to protect and., if the lake is overfertilised, to recover it. Traditionally, most lakes have been placed in one of three trophic categories: Oligotrophic lakes are poor in nutrients; eutrophic lakes are rich in nutrients arid mesotrophic lakes take place between these two categories. The boundaries between these three categories are somewhat arbitrary., therefore lake classifications are more subjective. In this study the suitability of the three most successful phosphorus loading models in classification of lakes in Turkey are investigated. KEY WORDS: Plant Nutrients, Eutrophication, Trophic Index, Mathematical Models, Lake Pollution.
