Abstract (EN)

This study aims to compare the anxiety levels of actively w kullanılmıştır orking wrestling referees (International w kullanılmıştır restling referees, 1st, 2nd and 3rd class national referees)114 wrestling referees, consisting of all of the 57 international wrestling referees and 57 national wrestling referees out of 90 across Turkey, participated in this trial. When evaluating their personal and socio-cultural features, the relevant questions asked to them included age, marital status, personal as well as their spouses?education status, job, income, residential status, number of family members, reason for working as a referee and which sports they were previously involved in. They were asked to fill in a `constant anxiety survey?made up of 20 questions by Spielberger in order to determine their constant anxiety scores. Also, an `Illinois self-evaluation survey?consisting of 27 questions was given to them to determine their cognitive and physical anxiety and self-confidence status. Firstly, they went through a one-way variance analysis to study the effects of the group on the participants regarding cognitive and physical anxiety and self-confidence. The result was that there was basic effect of the group in terms of cognitive anxiety and self-confidence. They also took the Tukey test so as to determine the source of the results.As a consequence, the cognitive anxiety scores of national referees were (x=18,86, ss=3,11), which were higher than that of international 1st class referees: (x=15,65, ss=2,74). On the other hand, the self-confidence scores of national referees resulted in (x=29,60, ss=3,75), which were lower than that of international 1st class referees: (x=32,30, ss=3,88).Key Words: Anxiety, Circumstancedness anxiety, Constant anxiety, Referee
