Climate change policies and the importance of sustainable finance in Turkey

Global climate change has been one of the most important agenda topics in the world in recent years. In addition to environmental risks, climatic disasters, which cause negative effects in the economic dimension, have been an important issue in Turkey's development plans and political process in recent years. Financing a transformation within the scope of mitigation and adaptation strategies against carbon emissions that cause climate change; is an important issue in tackling climate change. incorporating environmental, social and governance criteria into investment processes; It is important for achieving sustainable economic development as well as environmental goals. For such reasons, sustainable finance, which has come to the fore in recent years against climate change is progressing with the studies carried out by various institutions and ministries in Turkey, as well as the good practices provided by Turkish banks in this area. In this research, by examining Turkey's current position in international agreements against global climate change, its efforts towards sustainable development goals, the strategies and action plans prepared within the scope of climate change policies; studies on sustainable finance and the important relationship of these studies with climate change have been examined.
