Abstract (EN)

Understanding and estimating the climate system on thepresent-daysareone of the most important global change topics. Interms of the characteristics of the snowfall climatology in Turkey, determining the state of snowy days in which timely and a real change is important in order to know whether global climate change leads to timely and a real change. Consequently, observing the effects of global climate change will have been easy by means of manifesting snowfall in Turkey and the characteristics depend upon this. This, too, will have been guide about finding solutions or taking precautions and harmonizing. It has been tried to indicate a real disintegration characteristics of snowy days by being taken advantage of measurements of State Meteorology Affairs General Management forthepurpose of studying snowy days in Turkey. It has been observed that the state of being terrestrial, altitude, position and local climate characteristics are determinative in taking shape of observation of snowy days in Turkey. It has attracted attention that maximal snowy days are observed in North east Anatolian stations in Turkey; snowfalls are being lessened towards the South and west. While snowy days, according to the close environment, increase in Edirne and Kastamonu because of the local climatic characteristics, they are being lessened towards Iğdır and Malatya environment.Keywords: Climate change and variability; Characteristic of the snowfalls in Turkey; Geographical Information Systems (GIS); Long-term trend; Mann-Kendall test.
