Abstract (EN)

By the globalization process, rapid changes in science, technique and technology and progression towards to the information age have effected education systems and forced countries to develop their education policies according to these new conditions of the world. In that respect, the comparative education studies, which enable to determine the similarities and differences between education systems and to find solutions for similar problems by comparing countries, are getting to be more important. This research is a comparative music education study which aims to compare the primary education 4th and 5th grades music lesson curriculums of Turkey and England and to develop suggestions for two curriculums. The data of research were collected by document analyze technique and the collected data were analyzed by descriptive methods. An analyze framework was developed according to research questions. In this context; two curriculums were compared in terms of the general structures, general aims, basic skills, acquisitions, contents, learning-teaching processes and evaluation processes. At the end of the research, suggestions were developed for two countries according to the findings.Key Words: Comparative education, primary curriculum, music education.
