Abstract (EN)

Choosing a career is one of the most important issues of human life. If a person wants to have a successful career, he must choose the right career at the beginning of his educational life. The wrong choices taken in this process may cause unemployment or a restless career life.Career selection decision which can influence a person?s whole life is getting more difficult within today?s complex conditions. The labor market is affected by economic, social, technological and cultural circumstances thus new occupations are appeared and career choices are being shaped by this process today.There are many factors to consider when selecting a career. No doubt, one of the most important of these, is to stay unemployed after the vocational education. Choosing a career which is unnecesary for the labor market means unemployment for person in the future.The causes of unemployment and the functions of career guidance and consulting services to challenge to unemployment is determined in the study. A questionnaire is applied to the unemployed people hence in the light of obtained data; the relation between unemployment and consulting services is tried to be revealed.In the light of the literature and research findings; it is concluded that career guidance and consulting services can be used as an effective method to challenge unemployment
