Social exclusion in the context of women in Turkey

The concept that first emerged in France in the 1960s was used to refer to disadvantaged groups. It was associated with increasing poverty, inequality, unemployment and discrimination problems in the 1980s. Social exclusion is a multidimensional concept. Individuals or groups excluded from social life encounter barriers to income-generating activities, education and health opportunities, but also have difficulties in participating in social activities and establishing social relations. The responsibilities imposed on women as a hence of their gender roles cause to discrimination and inequality. As a result of inequality of women and men are subjected to exclusion in economic, social and political spheres. Within the scope of the fight against social exclusion of women, legal regulations and social policies are regulated in the labor market, education, civil society and politics.
