Özet (EN)
Turkey's history, geography, geopolitical location, physical and human elements, and population structure constitute the diversity of settlements. The objective of this research is to ascertain the quantity and demographic makeup of Turkish town settlements, as well as to highlight the parallels and divergences among them. It also seeks to shed light on the function and influence that town settlements have on other kinds of settlements. Due to the large number of town-qualified settlements, settlements with a district population between 2000 and 20 000 were selected. Accordingly, 387 districts were identified. The decision was made to combine qualitative and quantitative data in this research due to its broad scope. This served as the foundation for the mixed-structure thesis research. Prioritizing analysis of the gathered quantitative data is followed by the inclusion of qualitative data. The population size, age distribution, marital status, gender distribution, socioeconomic status, and demographic shift components and quantities of the towns were determined as a result of the investigations. These traits revealed that the population size of all 387 districts was typically between 5000 and 15000 people. In some areas of Turkey, towns are arranged in the shape of corridors and clusters. Observations of variations in these clusters based on population size have also been made. The gender distribution of the district's population has been found to be largely balanced; however, there are a few particularly notable instances. At this point, it can be said that gender status is a fragile population characteristic of towns. The age range of 15 to 64 has been shown to be the majority in the age structure, and the percentage of elementary school graduates is greater in terms of education. In terms of socioeconomic status, it has been shown that the fourth group is more concentrated in towns; nevertheless, as the population grows, the third group gains power. Gender was shown to have a greater influence than other factors in the study that took into account all the variables. Keywords: Population, settlement, town, district.
