Effect of urbanization on municipalities in Turkey

Key Words: City, Urbanization, Municipalities, The Problems of Municipalities and Municipalities during the urbanization period. The aim of this work is to inform about the formation of urbanization, the conditions municipalities are in during this period in our country and the effect of urbanization on municipalities. Inside this work, there are given (respectively) the definitions of city and urbanization, the causes and progress of urbanization, the urbanization characteristics of developed and develpoing countries and at last outcomes of urbanization. Giving the definitions of "city, urbanization" and their explanations, the topic is narrowed down to Turkey and the conditions in the country are considered. It is mentioned, in the work, the growth, the reasons and characteristics of urbanization in Turkey. Besides, the applied urbanization policies, the conditions of municipalities during this growth and their problems with the reasons are brought up while offering solutions for the present problems. The urbanization process in our country is invastigated on several periods. The same method is also applied to the development process of municipalities. At the preparation of the work, different outside sources and statistical information are used and these are ail indicated inside and at the end of the work. vn
