Urbanism troubles related to urbanization in Turkey and solution proposals

A rapid process of urbanization have occured in our country, in consequence of intensive immigration from rural areas to urban areas related to the developments that took place after 1950. According to TUIK, Turkey's urban population have grown up to 92.3 percent and thus, it has almost completed the process of urbanization. However, this urbanization process with high percentage rate in a short-term have paved the way for some troubles. In this context, the biggest trouble we face is the process of urbanism that came unparallel with the percentage of urbanization. Troubles related to urbanization that persist until today and got bigger because of not being prevented in time have generated the problem of decreasing social wealth and inability to urbanization. In this context, urbanized people's point of view to urban have changed and the process of alienation to urban have taken place and the problems of integration and belonging have generated. The reason why the problems experienced in the urbanization process could not be solved is due to the lack of management and organization, not financially. In the process until today, trying to bring the problems to the conclusion with unplanned and short-term solutions to save the day has started to question whether the cities are livable places in the long term. As a result of all these developments, in this study, Turkey's urbanization process and the policies pursued in this process examined. Considering the inability urbanization process in the case of Turkey, still ongoing problems originated from of urbanism and urbanization were mentioned.
