Abstract (EN)
In Turkey, 40 000 manufacturing enterprises work in furniture and wood working sector. TESK has members from the same sector, so totally 25.000 enterprises are manufacturing in timber and parquet industry. In this thesis, the production value of timber and parquet enterprises, foreign trade, employment, value added, ownership, capital structure, geographical distribution, product and manufacturing technology, production costs, export and import structural specifications, competitiveness according to different criteria, problems, expectations and precautions etc. are planned to be determined. Later on, the precautions for the harmonization and increasing the competitiveness of Turkish enterprises to EU production capacity and standards are determined. The values for the duration of 1997-2002 is obtained, evaluated and estimation is done. The manufacturing technology and quality of Turkish enterprises are compared with five leading countries in the world. The main problems of timber and parquet manufacturing enterprises are determined and possible solutions are proposed.Key Words timber, parquet
