Efficacy of entomopathogenic nematode isolates from Turkey and Kyrgyzstan against bean weevil [Acanthoscelides obtectus (SAY) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)] adults

Abstract (EN)
The widespread use of insecticides against pests leads to the deterioration of the natural balance that exists among living things, the durability of harmful organisms over time and residues in products. In recent years, new methods that may be an alternative to chemical control have been focused on and biological control has taken an important place in Integrated Pest Management studies and entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) have become increasingly important. EPN two isolates belonging to the species Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (11KG and TOK20) and two isolates belonging to the species Steinernema feltiae (3KG and Tokat-Emir), belonging to Turkey and Kyrgyzstan within the scope of this study with an important storage pests of bean plants the bean seed beetle (Acanthoscelides obtectus Say. Coleoptera: Bruchidae) has been demonstrated activity against. Single dose trials in laboratory conditions at 25±1ºC, two trials were conducted with 5 repetitions and the data were analyzed by combining due to the lack of differences between the trials. Single dose trials were tried at 50 infective juvenile (IJ) insect-1 concentration and by conducting daily checks, insect mortality rates ( % ) were determined and a statistical analysis table was kept. As a result of the trial, every 2 isolates (3KG and Tokat-Emir) of Steinernema feltiae showed the highest effect (99.59±0.65%). As a result of 3 different doses (25, 50 and 100 IJ insect-1) and 3 different temperatures (10, 15 and 20°C), the most effective isolate against Acanthoscelides obtectus is Heterorhabditis bacteriophora TOK20 isolate (73.09%) at 100 IJ dose at 10°C, Steinernema feltiae 3KG isolate (100%) at 100 IJ dose at 15°C, and S.feltiae 3KG at 100 IJ dose at 20°C was found to have isolate (100%). Dose death trials were conducted as a result of laboratory effect trials at different temperatures and doses. In dose-death trials 5, 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000 IJ insect-1 doses were applied against adults of the bean seed beetle. As a result of the study, Steinernema feltiae 3KG isolate against Acanthoscelides obtectus was found to be effective at 500 IJ insect-1 concentration.
