Abstract (EN)

Corporate social responsibility entered the agenda of firms in the 1960s Un ited States as a result of pressures from NGOs, especially environmentalists? and consumers? organizations. The influence of NGOs over them forced the firms to take the demands of their stakeholders into account. Firms have to cooperate with NGOs in order the corporate social responsibility projects developed within the process of firm-stakeholder dialogue to be symetrical. Only with such cooperation can the social interests be negotiated with corporate interests. It is difficult to reminisce about the influence of NGOs over the firms in the development of corporate social responsibility in Turkey. Because, corporate social responsibility entered the agenda of NGOs via the firms. This research is based on a survey on the executives of Turkish NGOs so as to depict thier attitudes and perceptions of corporate social responsibility. Survey results demonstrated that cooperations on corporate social responsibility projects are initiated by the firms, that their practice did not develop as a result of stakeholder dialogue, and that NGOs have almost no influence in transforming these practices into symetrical processes.
