General assessment about clarinet courses in Turkey's music education institution

This research, music education at the undergraduate level at institutions in Turkey, based on the views of educators in schools where the clarinet lessons, This research is designed to make a general evaluation on clarinet lessons and to examine the researches that have done before. When the literature review on the subject of the research has done, It is a remarkable point that various researches about clarinet education have been calculated but these studies have been limited in number. In this context, the research is considered important in terms of subject and content. At the same time, in order to contribute, the clarinet has been examined in general. Music education, musical education, historical development of the clarinet, clarinet history in Turkey, clarinet types, characteristics, these are given information about the system and structure. Qualitative data were obtained by source scanning method and quantitative data created in accordance with expert opinions were obtained through questionnaire. The sample of this research, which is a descriptive survey model, consists of clarinet educators working in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Conservatory and Faculty of Education N=31. The questionnaire was composed of multiple choice, open-ended, yes-no and five-likert items. With a total of 31 questions and were asked about the incidence of clarinet educators among the educators by learning the initial processes in clarinet education, the course processes, the opinions of the clarinet educators about the course methods, and the individual views of the clarinet educators. In order to apply the questionnaire, questions were created using by Google Forms and sent to the participants via e-mail. The data obtained from the survey was evaluated by statistical viii methods and interpreted. Frequency, percentage values, standard deviation and mean values of the data obtained from the survey were analyzed using SPSS program. Cronbach Alpha tests were applied for the reliability of the questionnaire. As a result of the research; clarinet educators preferred Bb clarinet most in their lessons, students had various problems about the cost of clarinet instrument clarinet educators have studied classical western music, clarinet educators find the materials and equipments related to clarinet education sufficient on the other hand clarinet educators find the methods related to Turkish music insufficient, In the context of clarinet education, there are some conclusions that the students are inadequate in relation to other professional music courses and because of that the clarinet lessons are affected negatively and the number of clarinet hours was insufficient.
