Awareness of substance addiction in turkey the effect of their work on youth

In this study, firstly, the concepts of addiction and substance (drug) addiction, which are a public health problem, are emphasized. Addictive substances and their types are briefly mentioned and the factors causing substance addiction are discussed. Within the framework of the fight against substance addiction, the process of our country's fight against addiction has been discussed. In the second part of the study, health communication was mentioned within the scope of dealing with substance addiction awareness studies, which is one of the preventive processes of substance addiction. The historical development of the concept of health communication, health communication dimensions and health communication campaign processes are tried to be explained. Health communication campaigns made specifically for substance abuse from the world and our country were examined. In the last part of the study, it was tried to reveal the effect of awareness studies carried out within the framework of substance addiction studies in our country on the target group of 18-24 years old. For this reason, first of all, "Substance Addiction Awareness Studies Opinion Questionnaire" was developed. After the development of the opinion questionnaire, the opinion of an assessment and evaluation expert and the approval of Galatasaray University Social Sciences Institute Ethics Committee were obtained. After all these approvals, the aforementioned questionnaire was applied to the 18-24 age group at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Within the framework of the opinion questionnaire applied, the views and thoughts of the youth on the substance addiction awareness studies carried out in our country were tried to be revealed. With this study, it is aimed to be a resource for awareness health communication activities to be carried out for the young target group in the 18-24 age group, which is the primary risk and target group for substance addiction in our country.
