A content analysis of the joint studies in mathematics and science education in turkey.

Nowadays, technology has been rapidly changing and we clearly see its impact. We also see these improvements in the field of science. Mathematics also contributes to the development of this field. When we compare the past and present in mathematics and science it can be seen that they still interact. This interaction positively reflecs on the ressearches. TIMSS and PISA exams, attended by our country and STEM education can be examples of the refletion of this interaction and importance. When we examine the literature, we can see the works in both maths and science. But there is no previous content analysis in joint studies in mathematics and science education. Because of this, this research supports the first research qualification. Case study, which is a qualitative research method, was used in this study In this research, document analysis was used as data collection approach. The data of the study was collected by the publication classification form revised by the researcher. The obtained data are presented with tables and graphs. Tables and graphs are created and interpreted separately for the articles. As a result of the analysis case of the studies in the fiels of maths and science between 2000-2018 are presented thoroughly. According to this result, after the year of 2012 there is an increase in the number of common use of science and mathematics studies. It is thought that the studies on STEM positively affect the increase in the number of these studies. Beside that, it was concluded that the discipline focusing in these studies is not mostly mathematics education and the subject area studied mostly handle with interdisciplinary relations.
