Abstract (EN)

In general, a strike is defined as the temporary en masse work stoppage by employees for the purpose of protecting their economic and social rights; and is a means of pressure applied by the working class on the employers in order to change negative working conditions or to have some demands and conditions covered by the employers. In the world, the right to go on strike for the purpose of protecting the rights of the working class was secured by laws as of the Second World War. However, the right to go strike was not given to the working class for a long time in our country, and eventually it was given with the Constitution of 1961 by regulating the Collective Labor Agreement, Strike and Lock-out Law, 275. With the regulation of the right to go on strike, the employee movements started in our country. Especially in the metal sector, which has an important position in the economy of the country in terms of export and employment, employee activities started to increase; and in 1970s, intense fights were given between employees and employers. In this sector, which has hosted important strike activities in terms of the history of employees, an "employee resistance" started in the year 2015 in Bursa OYAK Renault and Tofaş factories; although it was called as a strike, in actual fact, it was a resistance. In this study, the employee resistance that occurred in 2015 in Bursa OYAK Renault and Tofaş factories has been dealt with; and the effects of this resistance on the economy of the country and on the employees have been assessed. In the first part of the study, a literature review has been made, and brief information has been provided on the concept "strike", the types of it, and the development of the right to go on strike. In the second part, the position of the metal sector in the manufacturing industry has been investigated, information has been provided on the work relations; the strikes and activities that occurred in the metal sector as of 2000 have been examined, and general effects of these activities have been mentioned. In the applicable part, which is the third part of the study, a situation analysis has been made by providing information on the causes and effects of the resistance in the light of the interviews made with the syndicates and employees by applying the Interview Technique.
