Özet (EN)

This study aims at examining the Turkish political history, and evaluating the changes experienced in the parliamentary structures following the general elections. The political consequences of the deputy transfers among the political parties were searched in an attempt to exhibit the role of such events in establishment and drop of the cabinets. Furthermore, in the context of the political developments in the Turkish Great National Assembly at the 21st term upon the general election on April 18, 1999, the leadership challenge in the Democratic Left Party (DSP), followed by the emergence of the New Turkey Party (YTP), was studied in details. It was determined that such events as the economic crisis in 2001, and then transfer of Kemal Derviş to Turkey as the state minister in charge of economy, the leadership challenge in DSP, and participation of Kemal Derviş in the Republican People?s Party (CHP) eroded DSP, and naturally YTP that was founded upon disintegration of DSP, and hence only the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and CHP entered the Turkish Great National Assembly (TBMM) and the sole government of AKP.
