The importance of computer usage and investigation ofcad software in furniture design process for furniture industry in Turkey

In this study, which types computer software were used for the design process of production stages for the furniture industry in Turkey and which advantages were obtained in industry with using of these software. The aims of this study were to highlight Computer Aided Design (CAD) software affected by directly to sector development and creating of brand awareness in furniture industry, to educate designer increasing levels of these software usages in furniture industry and to overcome the deficiencies lack of knowledge about this subject. Within the scope of this study, firstly, emphasizing as to terms of general, industrial and furniture design, design phase was investigated with its parts. In the next steps, respectively, CAD systems and its? parts were defined and its advantages were indicated with present state of CAD systems in furniture industry. In the last chapter, dwelt on general situation of furniture sector in Turkey, using of computer-aided design and modelling software such as Vectorworks Interiorcad, Imos CAD, Phtha, Arcon, Adeko, Infowood, KitchenDraw, Google Sketchup, Autocad ve 3DS Max is determined when the CAD software used in this sector is analyzed in detail.Key Words: Design, Industrial design, Furniture design, Computer Aided Design(CAD).
