City hotels-lobby area interior space formation in the modernization era in Turkey - Pera Palas, Ankara Palas and Hilton İstanbul Hotel review

Developing parallel to the needs of the users, the accommodation places have reached to today's understanding of lodging industry by experiencing various phases of structuring within the process. In this study, the historical process of accommodation structure has been studied in terms of grounding the city hotels interior space formation and the interspace interaction evaluation. In this study that includes the 1840-1914 years within the modernization process, the answer to the question of which factors shape the city hotels lobby interior spaces was searched and the changes that took place according to the identified periods were studied through the samples. The determination of city hotels interior space relations during the modernization period was evaluated via the city hotels identified in terms of "interior space-environmental formation", "plan organization", "functional approaches"and "aesthetic approaches". In this context, three hotels that take place among the city hotels of Turkey were evaluated because of the following reasons; Pera Palas Hotel, which was constructed during the late Ottoman era and which contains many firsts in it; Ankara Palas Hotel which was constructed in the early Republican era and which is the first modern hotel of the capital city of this era; Hilton Hotel İstanbul which is one of the city hotels of the modernization era and which is a prominent hotel from the viewpoint of its service quality. The factors effective in the formation of the interior space of the hotels during the modern process have been evaluated by correlating their historical processes.
