Abstract (EN)
This study focusses on the Iron Age Ceramics from the Region of Eastern Mediterranean (Turkey) were studied in order to re-interpret in terms of form and slip decoration using with current/local raw materials. The clays of Almanpınarı Region and Seyhan Dam Lake Area were used. The clay with chamot content, red and white clays, pigments, oxides and glazes were also used in this study. Plastic forming methods were used and samples were fired at 1000-1100℃ in an electrically heated kiln. It was found that, the colors obtained from local clays were similar to engobe and body colors on Iron Age ceramic findings. Results showed that, local clays are suitable for engobe and pottery making without causing any problems.
