Özet (EN)

Nowadays necesities for the `Renewable Energy sources? have been increased as a result of the negative impact of the conventional fossil fuel energy sources on the environment and the rapidly increasing energy demand due to the industrialization. However in accordance with the countries priorities and availability of resources, it poses a multi-criteria decision problem whether this kind of energy sources are preferable to the conventional energy sources subject to criterian such as uncertainty of the integration to the national grid, power quality problems, costs and technical feasibility. In this thesis, comparison of the renewable and conventional energy sources of Turkey, in the scope of primary energy sources to be used to generate electricity, have been analysed and developed a decision support basis for national energy policy and preference order of energy sources. For this purpose, Analytic Network Process (ANP), which is one of the mostly prefered `Multi-criteri decision model? in energy policy making and management in last decades, have been implemented on the existing Turkish renewable energy potential. As a result of the study, it is recommended that small hidropower and jeothermal power plants should be preferred as a primary energy sources for power generation. As for the other renewable energy sources such as wind and photovoltaic solar power, they are subsequently preferred due to the problems of connection to the national grid.
