Abstract (EN)
Today, energy demands are increasing as a result of the rapid increase in the world population, industrialization and advances in technology. The limited conventional energy resources in the world reveals the necessity for countries to use their resources more effectively and efficiently. European Union candidate Turkey, a country with a young population that is a developing country with industrialization and dynamic economic power structure. Therefore, energy needs of Turkey is increasing day by day. Determination of the energy and environmental performance among the member countries due to its geostrategic location where Turkey is located is important. In this study, Turkey's energy and environmental parameters into consideration, from the point of determining the position of movement between EU member states have created seven different models. These models are renewable energy efficiency, energy production and potency efficiency, energy potency efficiency, renewable energy efficiency according to gross final energy consumption, greenhouse gas emission efficiency, import dependency efficiency and electricity price efficiency. According to Turkey's EU country comparative analysis section, DEA and Malmquist Index was conducted utilizing the method. A country's Malmquist productivity index being greater than 1.0 indicates an improvement in its efficiency. DEA is a nonparametric method used for efficiency evaluation for similar types of decision-making units (DMU) using more than one input and output variables. Data of 30 European countries between 2015 and 2017 were used in the analyzes. Turkey's 2017 average Malmquist indices of 1,058, 1,000, 0,990, 0,880, 0.490, 0,717 and 1,248. As a result, Turkey's gross renewable energy efficiency model based on final energy consumption, energy production and productivity effectiveness model and price of electricity efficiency model has been found to show improvement compared to the EU countries.
