Özet (EN)

The taxa of Quercus are the most frequently used woody plants for studies of hybridization. They have weak reproductive barriers between species so, hybridization between closely related species is very common among oaks. In this study, inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) method was used to identify and differentiate between twelve different white oak taxa and their putative hybrids which are mainly found at the North-West region of Turkey. In total 35 white oak individuals produced a total 175 bands by using 11 ISSR primers. After evaluations of band profiles, it was observed that ISSR markers produced 90.85 % polymorphism with Quercus taxa. Obtained data from these bands were used to construct tree diagram using Nei's genetic similarity. The two statistical analysis software programs, Minitab and NTSYS were used to reveal variations and to determine genetic distance of these taxa. Both, cluster analysis (CA) and principle component analysis (PCA) identified four groups among the studied taxa. According to these results, all the members of studied white oak species were separated clearly. Both analyses results were supported each other. Putative hybrids usually located between their presumed parents in the dendrogram and PCA graphs. Consequently, this preliminary study showed that ISSR markers can be used with confidence, especially for oak hybrid analyses.
