An analysis of Turkey's in terms of welfare society

In this study, an analysis of Turkey in terms of welfare society is carried out. The research which is done by way of varied indicants, including welfare discrepancy between Turkey and developed and developing countries, also includes a comparative analysis on Turkey. According to the research results, when compared to welfare countries, income per capita in Turkey is notably low. In addition to this, income distribution and inequality are apparent and high income gap continues. In Turkey which the relative poverty rates are also high, weight of indirect taxes in the tax system indicates the no equitable tax structure. In other words, in Turkey, instead of income, profits and earnings, the expenses are taxed. Inflation rate is still high even though it is one-digit. The share-out of education and health spending among both the Household consumption expenditure and the Gross Domestic Product, is notably low. In terms of employment and labor, a structure with poor human capital equipment, exists and productivity, production and income levels are negatively affected. In Turkey where the share-out of R&D expenses within Gross Domestic Product is low, electricity consumption is also at the behind of welfare countries. With gender inequalities, in the economic and social context, being in the first place, negations are also valid for democracy, crime, safety and well-being indicators. At the same time, especially lately, in the aspects of social security, social housing, civil society organizations, social services help and expenses, positive developments are also seen. As a result, despite the ambition to continue developing and progressing in the manner of welfare society, Turkey is not at the same level that welfare countries have reached in some fields yet.
