Turkey's industrialization process, foreign direct capital investments effects on industrial export and gross national product.An application on the years of 1983-2000

When it is considered in the concept of history of economics, the phenomenon of industrialization is confronted as a threshold which changed the course of history and led to alignments and changes between countries depending on the economic variables. Especially with the industrial revolution, increased prosperity of countries led almost all countries to focus on industrialization. In this analogy, the main objective of Turkey is also to become industrialized and to catch up with developed countries without interrupting relations with other countries. Within that period, new variables got involved in accordance with the conjuncture and took active role in development and change of events. One of the leading variable is foreign direct investment, which come into prominence with the globalization.In this context, the primary aim of this study is to analyse the relationship between exports, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and foreign direct investment, which expected to make a great contribution to economy with the transition to liberal economic system, between 1983 and 2000 period in Turkey.This study consist of three chapters. First chapter discusses the industrialization period of Turkey in the context of industrialization strategies. Second chapter narrates the concept and some recent developments in foreign direct investment. In the third and the last chapter, the effect of foreign direct investment on industrial export and GDP is tested using econometric techniques.
