Analysis of commercial relations of Turkey and Turkic Republic

Within this thesis, the trade relations of Turkey with Turkic Republics (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan) are being analyzed. All of those states are former Soviet Republics and especially three of them have rich hydrocarbon reserves. Turkey's trade relations with those states which share linguistic, religion and cultural based historical affinity has been examined through the trends in recent years, its percentage in total foreign trade, sorts of goods which are exchanged. Besides, Turkey's share in foreign trade volumes of those republics has been analyzed in detail. Within the work, the place of foreign trade in theories of economics is being expressed with basic principles from mercantilism to the new theoretical perspectives; general information about Turkey's foreign trade is forwarded and her trade relations with those republics have been analyzed within this scope. It is one of the results of this thesis that; besides the reality that World economy is going much more Asia weighted day by day, the growing energy necessity of Turkey as well obliges her to develop healthier and more productive trade relations in Asia especially in Caucasus-Turkestan region. Despite the 25 years that passed over the independencies of those states and despite the rhetoric based on historical-cultural affinity, it is determined that Turkey's trade with those republics is at pretty low level when compared with other state groups (EU, Middle East etc.). There are some suggestions in this thesis, in order to overcome this problem and increase the trade volume and mutual beneficiation of those states as much as possible.
