Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Besides the natural riches, population also has a great importance in the economic development of a country. But more than the number of the people such various peculiarities as age distribution, sex ratio, cultural situation, density of population and employment play roles in the effectiveness of economic affairs. Infact, it is a reality that high population will be beneficial in the working of unused resources, incite the heavier economic activities to meet the needs occur as a result of urbanization, improve the economic factors by modernizing the production techniques, facilitate the establishment of more large scaled plants, an contribute the foundation and improvement of the educational and cultural institutions. Approximately 50 % of the population in Turkey is between 0-19 years old. Though this means a potential productive power in future; it also creates the problem of feeding more people for the working class. Later on, the problem of providing employment fields for these people who are geoing to become active will come on the agenda. 50% of the men and 29.0 % of the women population in our country are active and 40 % of the total population is determined to be economically active. Though the number of productives has increased as regard to years, the ratio remained low because of excessive increase of population. In our country slowing down the ratio of population increase and inclining towards the technical fields in education will both accelerate the economic development and increase social welfare connecting to this.
