The management problem of the medium sized urban areas in Turkey: Söke?Kuşadası case

Management problems of medium sized urban area in local governments and the municipality which is the most important factor in local government topic is a very important subject for public administration science. Medium sized urban area?s management problems, their legal status and proposed management alternatives for these areas are the subjects touched on in this thesis.In our thesis; some answers looked for about; management problems of medium sized urban area especially Söke ? Kuşadası urban area management, management problems resulted from divided administrative structure in this region and can the different management alternatives carry out for his region.Urban, urban area, medium sized urban area, metropolitan area are characterized and the management alternatives examined about these urban areas in the first part of thesis which is headed management alternatives for medium sized urban ares. The legal arrangements about these subjects examined in Turkey in the second part. Söke, Kuşadası urban areas, urban developments, and the conditions of this region are explained in the third section. In the forth part of the thesis; results of the field researh in Söke, Kuşadası and Selçuk urban areas are analyzed with SPSS Programme. Assessments of the findings in the ending part named results and proposes.
