Özet (EN)

In this study, companies operating in the private security sector in Turkey, educational institutions, companies selling security systems and devices, and alarm monitoring centers were examined and it was aimed to investigate the competitive situation of these companies in the sector. Case analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. Interviews were conducted using with 13 people worked in the research using the interview method. Considering the purpose of the study, data were collected using semi-structured interview technique and these data were subjected to content analysis. Within the scope of the study carried out, "Strategic Competitiveness Analysis in the Private Security Sector of Turkey" was evaluated under 5 general categories as market entry threat, competition among competitors, threat of substitute products, bargaining power of buyers and bargaining power of suppliers. In the light of the data collected in the interviews, it has been determined that the primary aim in the market entry conditions is to provide the cheapest and best security purpose. Firms with high capital strength aim to change the old firm habits of existing customers by offering low prices. The most determining factor of competition in the sector is the wage factor. This factor is the basis that determines the permanence of companies in the sector. The wage factor causes some companies to impose restrictions, which reduces the quality of service. The absence of any restrictions on entry to the market is another factor that makes competition difficult. Reasons such as not requiring a special document for the opening of a private security training institution, not having any quota restrictions may cause a rapid increase in the companies operating in the sector. The fact that security systems and devices cannot be used alone without human factor is an indication that there is no threat of substitute products in the sector. Companies that purchase services in the field of private security are in a strong position in bargaining due to the large number of companies operating.
