Psychedelic approaches to the concept of popular music in Turkey and the mystical representative of popular music: İlhan İrem

The concept of popular music has led to the prominence of various music styles in Turkey as well as in the world. The perception of popular music, which started with Blues and Jazz music and expanded with genres such as Rock'n Roll, Country, Rock, Pop, has led to the development of Psychedelic Rock and similar subgenres within different cultural structures. Natural hallucinogens, known to have been used for various reasons throughout human history, have been transformed into synthetic/semi-synthetic products with the development of modern science, paving the way for widespread social use. The widespread use of hallucinogenic drugs among the young population led to a new breakthrough in art and the psychedelia movement emerged. Unlike in the West, the reflections of psychedelic music in Turkey have only led to a musical search. As a result, synthesized genres such as "Anatolian Pop" and "Anatolian Rock", which blended Anatolian melodies with Western psychedelic music techniques, emerged and gave a different direction to Turkish popular music. İlhan İrem, on the other hand, has left an unorthodox mark on Turkish popular music, transferring his mystical and metaphysical orientations to his works in a unique way, and has signed a career that should be evaluated outside the musical generalizations of his period. As a result of the research, analysis and evaluations made on the artist, semantic and conceptual inferences about his life, philosophical views, mystical, metaphysical, mythological and mystical aspects of his musical and poetic productions have been revealed.
