Digital transformation in healthcare in Turkey: A content analysis from the perspective of postgraduate theses

Developments in technology affect all sectors. With developing technology, a transformation has begun to occur in the field of health. This transformation is addressed under the title of digitalization in health and includes many health services offered with new technologies. The digitalization of health services has positively and negatively affected health service providers and health service demanders. The aim of this study is to collect and systematically organize valid and reliable studies written under the title of digital transformation in health in Turkey and to examine thesis studies written on the title in our country in order to provide multi-faceted information. For this purpose, content analysis was conducted on 92 theses covering the years 2006-2023. General information of the theses examined within the scope of the study and the results obtained from the theses were presented. Document review method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The theses analyzed in the study were examined in terms of distribution according to universities and departments, data collection methods used, scales used in theses, data analysis methods, and the aims and hypotheses of the studies. As a result of the research; the examination of theses on digital transformation in health in Turkey between 2006-2023 reveals that digitalization plays a vital role in increasing the accessibility, efficiency and patient satisfaction of health services. However, it has been determined that problems such as data security, system integration and lack of training encountered in this process are still important issues that need to be solved in terms of the sustainability and success of digital transformation. With the results obtained, a general knowledge accumulation has been provided for individuals who will conduct research on the subject of digital transformation in health in Turkey.
