Abstract (EN)

Art is one of the most important phenomena transmitted by societies from generation to generation. The foundations of the transformation of Art into a market are very old. It is known that this understanding, which is assumed to date back to the 5th century bc, firstly came from the hebrews, ancient greek and Roman Periods. It is seen that the Art market was formed by exhibiting the works and valuables obtained during war periods in open areas and selling them using the auction method. It is stated that the auctions and galleries have reached by changing shape from past to present day. The fact that only the bourgeoisie bnew about the works of artists before, and that the works could not reach to audience because they were found in the workshop, adversely affected the development of this market. Markets formed by buying and selling works of art or valuables have led to the emergence of auctions and galleries. The arrival of auctions and galleries as an art market to Turkey delayed by 300 years compared to europe. Despite this, the auction houses that emerged with the collapse of the ottoman empire and the establishment of the Turkish republic contributed to the formation of the art market. The art market, which has gained momentum with the effect of globalization, has caused art to be seen as an investment tool and has turned into an area where collectors invest. However, due to the lack of sufficient space to display works of art and to provide an opportunity them to be used as investment tools, besides banks, fairs and biennials, museums as non-profit organizations have hosted exhibition spaces. In this research, the development of the auction and the gallery with the start of exhibition 1"of works by the artists who live in Turkey as a result of the education they received from europe and the observations they made, is examined.
