Relationship between defense expenditures and economic crises in Turkey in the Period of 1980 to 2009

The relationship between defense expenditures and so called 1980, 1994, 2000-2001 and current 2008 crises are examined and found out that during all these crises defense expenditures moved independently and rather increased in real terms most of the time. So they are not used as a tool to mitigate crises, unlike the American way of military Keynesianism. Furthermore these inappropriate expenditures are found to be one of the reasons that led economic crises, or worsened current crisis, at least.
