Abstract (EN)

The proficiency of special ability tests for the universities choosing students for ceramic educationIn this research, the profiency of special ability tests for those universities which support ceramic education in Arts was investigated. For this reason, 8 faculty members were questioned on the subject during 2007?2008.Involved faculty is from 5 different universities which have ceramic education in their Art departments. 8 faculty members were selected from Gazi, Hacettepe, Dokuz Eylül, Marmara and Mimar Sinan Üniversities. Data was collected from the transcripts of questionaire forms with faculty members and literature search.Eigth questions were asked to each faculty member. The final report was formed after analyzing the transcripts of meeting forms. Data taken was compared among the responces for the same question and this comparison was repeated for all questions. In light of this work it has been seen that the process of choosing the student effects the quality of the education process; there has been limitations for the tests under progress and limitations were mostly due to the limited sources for the madatory nature of applied tests. İt has been verified that the personal choice and vision of faculty members primarily effects the results on the tests. İn the process of test preperation and also in the making of the curriculum referral to education sciences is superficial although it is accepted to be essential for the art education. Specific criteria were set in advance and sought for the tests under progress however these criteria themselves were questioned if it served the reason for the art education. It has been understood from the questionaires that the canditates were tested for their ability to look and see, ability to reflect what he/she sees and his/her creativity in a determined form. Faculty members beleive the necessity of improving the test methods however they mentioned their hesitation on the current education policy while upgrading the test techniques with limited physical and economical support. As a results of this reseach it has been seen that it is necessary to diversify the testing methods and convert it to a state with a well defined systemic program. It has been revealed that there is a necessity for those faculty who prepare and evaluate the testing process to be more objective and also there is a necessity for those students who are applying to have introduced to art education much earlier and to be more concious towards arts. It should not be forgotten that learning is a scientific process and therefore it is mandatory that art educators should be in the process of test preperation and evaluation. Special ability tests aims to select for those who are socially concious, verbally and analitically capable and for those who love arts and show interest. It is a common beleif that the quality of education and its direction will change with the preperation of the method and the content of the tests, which aim to choose the students for the reason. Therefore some proposals were made where the student candidates conciously can make their choice.Ideas including the testing primarily creativity and originality, testing unnecessary presummably learnible ability of drawing are presented. Proposals other than the current one were made. It has been thought that this reaserch will show a different approach for the art departments of universities which serves ceramic education and select their students through special ability tests.SUMMARYThe proficiency of special ability tests for the universities choosing students for ceramic educationIn this research, the profiency of special ability tests for those universities which support ceramic education in Arts was investigated.
