Soci̇al muni̇ci̇pali̇sm appli̇cati̇ons i̇n Turkey and a case study of Bornova

Localisation driven by globalisation has caused the social state concept to lose its power, and thus has given birth to the social municipalism concept. At local level, municipalities not only provide services such as road building, infrastructure, environmental cleaning and reconstruction but also social aid and social service facilities which relieves the burden of the control administration. Social municipilism contributes at local level to seeking solutions to a large number of problems such as social problems derived by globalisation, rapid urbanization and the problems release to the information age. İn this work; local government units, the cocepts of social state and social policy, social municipality activities in performed by Bornova Municipality in the contextof activity report will be addressed.
