Abstract (EN)

Developments in management approaches have brought the role of local governments with it. The spread of the social state understanding and the increasing role of local governments in this process have revealed the social municipality approach. The aim of this study is to compare the municipalities of Sultanbeyli and Bakirkoy while examining the social municipality practices in Turkey. Within the scope of the study, data were obtained by using the reports shared by the municipalities. According to the results, although the districts of Sultanbeyli and Bakirkoy have great socio-economic, socio-cultural and socio-demographic differences, the social municipality practices of the two municipalities are similar on vital services. Support for sports, green space, cleaning services, helping those in need, social activity organizations services are determined as similar social municipality practices of Sultanbeyli and Bakirkoy municipalities. The services of Bakirkoy Municipality are more in line with the rightsbased approach of social work than Sultanbeyli Municipality in terms of social municipality. The thought that the data shared by Sultanbeyli and Bakirkoy municipalities are valid and reliable constitutes the limitations of the study.
