The tendency of thesis which are done about social sciences in Turkey

The aim of this research is to determine tendency by analyzing the theses made in the field of social studies education in Turkey in terms of various variables. The research was prepared with a qualitative approach. The research data were obtained from the thesis center of YÖK through document review, and the obtained data were analyzed by content analysis technique. A total of 1280 postgraduate studies were analyzed, of which 1094 were master's, and 186 doctoral studies within the research. The number of postgraduate studies in the field of Social Studies Education generally tends to increase between 2000-2021 years. In the review made by these years, it was determined that the maksimal work was completed in 2019. In the research, it has been determined that 'Gazi University' is the university where the largest number of graduate education studies were conducted in the field of Social Studies Education in Turkey.While quantitative and qualitative research methods were mostly preferred in the studies, it was determined that mixed method studies were less.Moreover, the most preferred research model is the descriptive model. The researches were mostly carried out on students, teachers and teacher candidates with sample groups of less than 100. In addition, it has been determined that the most focused topic in postgraduate education studies in the field of Social Studies Education is 'teaching methods'.
