Abstract (EN)
Although the concept of sustainable development is generally evaluated with its environmental dimension, this concept has three different sub-dimensions: economic, social and environmental. All countries in the world are implementing various policies to achieve these sustainable development goals. Similar to the other countries, Turkey has started to important micro-based policy implementation for sustainable development in recent years. The increasing amount of investments made under these policies are also associated with increasing political stability of Turkey during this period. Based on above informations, this study aims to examine the impact of political stability on different dimensions of sustainable development of Turkey for the period from 2002 to 2017. In order to examine economic sustainability in the first model, the effects of political stability, labor and capital accumulation on real GDP are examined. In the second model, the effect of political stability and real GDP on renewable energy consumption is examined in order to evaluate the environmental sustainability. Finally, in order to examine social sustainability in the third model, the effects of political stability and real GDP on poverty are examined. All these relationships are examined through time series methods. Considering the findings obtained in the study, in the first model, it is concluded that labor and capital accumulation increases the real GDP whereas the increase in political stability reduces the real GDP. When the results obtained for the second model are analyzed, it is concluded that the increase in real GDP and political stability increases the consumption of renewable energy. In the third model where social sustainability is evaluated, it has been concluded that the increase in real GDP increases the poverty rate but the increase in political stability decreases poverty.
