Analysis and evaluation of the privatization applications in agricultural sector in Turkey

This study dwells on analysing and evaluating the privatization applications in agricultural sector in Turkey. In the study, the privatization applications in agricultural sector are handled with the aspects such as economic activity, production,employment, public interest, privatization methods and their extent of success is put forth. The conclusion in the study is that the privatization applications in agriculture do not bear fruit for agricultural sector as expected.The study basically consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, general information is given about state economic enterprises, privatization and agricultural sector. Here, conceptional extent, brief history and legislative framework of state economic enterprises and privatisation are dealt with and description of agriculture, its functions, historical development, globalization and EU common agriculture policies are contextualised.The privatization applications in agriculture are given place in the second chapter. Privatization processes in state-owned agricultural enterprises, and elements, particularly globalization that have an impact on privatization in agriculture are treated Besides, agricultural institutions privatized in Turkey are examined one by one.In the third chapter, the privatization applications concerning agriculture are evaluated with the aspects such as economic activity, production, employment, public interest, privatization methods etc. At the end of the study, it is concluded that privatization of agricultural institutions do not contribute much to the national economy and agriculture, agricultural gainings are no longer charming, agricultural sector is being headed by a few national and international firms, the state production and control over this sector is on the wane and privatization has adversely affected basic indicators like production and employment.Key Words;1.Agricultural Sector2.Privatization3.Agricultural Support4.Globalization5.State Economic Enterprises
