The economic analysing of asset-liability management in commercial banking sector in Türkiye

Nowadays, an activity atmosphere exists for banks due to retrogressive globalization. Because of geographical boundaries began to loose their sharpness in both economical and politic manner since 1980?s, composite, competitive and extreme volatile markets are founded gradually. Banking concept also shows diversity in its own structure since 1980?s, when liberalization and globalization aptitude is occurred. As a result of these aptitudes, modern banking concept is established. Most important means of modern banking is active-marketing method. When we discuss risks all in all in terms of banking, active-passive method is used by all banks in order to benefit from taking continuously renewable and appropriate decisions to general banking targets, continuous arrangements of active-passive management according to annual plans, etc. Active-passive method is became necessary in order to reach their profitability targets of banks due to it has different means and methods in its structure, such as spread method, GAP, duration analyses, etc. In parallel with developments from all over the world, Turkish Banking System began to keep its step with this new method within its own structure. Although our banks could not capture required level in internal measurement methods, such as VaR; are using easier ways such as spread method, GAP, and duration analyses. As a result, the banks, which are aware of the role obtained by globalization and are accord to modern banking issues; became one of the global or local (inland) big banking institutions in the 21st century?s World .
