The reflection of violence against women during the period 2002-2020 in the works of artists in the contect of gender inequality in Turkey

In the introduction part of the thesis titled ''THE REFLECTION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN DURING THE PERIOD 2002-2020 IN THE WORKS OF ARTISTS IN THE CONTECT OF GENDER INEQUALITY IN TURKEY'' the concept of 'gender inequality' is defined at the beginning, then the concept is continued to be explained with the concept of 'gender inequality', and then the studies carried out by the United Nations, the European Union and Turkey on the development process of the concept in the direction of 'gender equality' are mentioned. In the second part, the concept of 'violence', which is the most common type of gender inequality, is emphasised and firstly, the concept of violence is defined as "doing or making someone do something against their will by applying force and pressure; the act of inflicting violence, coercion, assault, brute force, physical or psychological suffering or torture, hitting and wounding", and then, in addition to the definition, the Oxford English Dictionary, Yves Michaund, John Dewey, Colins, Garver, Hegel, Galtung, The World Health Organization and most recently T.R. The definitions of violence by the Ministry of Family and Social Affairs are included. After defining the concept of violence from many perspectives, the historical process of the concept, its types, stages, causes, directing violence against women and its negative effects on women are explained in the second chapter and then violence against women in Turkey is mentioned and examples of 'femicides' are mentioned in order to draw attention to the increasing number of violence against women in the geography we are in. In the third chapter, the biographies of Şükran Moral, Sena, Esra Karaduman and Şevval Başalan, who are mentioned as women artists in the subject title of the thesis, as well as the related work visuals and explanations of these visuals are given. In the fourth chapter, the interview questions, which are also the research method of the thesis, consisting of 16 questions prepared with the approval of the thesis advisor, were sent to the four female artists via e-mail and the answers given were added to the thesis without any changes.
