This study will focus on the communication between Turkey and other Turkic Republics, and programs broadcasted by TRT Avaz in Kazakh. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter will provide a conceptual framework through a general review of Turkish history by discussing Turkey, the other Turkic Republics and the Turkish world seperately. In this context, we will also review the search for a Turkish ?Union? which flourished in the Turkic Republics after the collapse of Soviet Union, the reasons behind this search and their relations with Turkey. Especially the relations between Turkey and the other Middle Asian Turkic Republics which gained independence after the collapse of Soviet Union, namely, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, bears importance. The political, cultural, and economical relations between Turkey and Middle Asian Turkic Republics, which gained independence after 1991 and the effect of these relations on the communication, will be assessed in this study. The second chapter will discuss the development of TV sector in Turkey after 60?s, the first TV broadcast, the establishement of TRT, Turkish Radio and the television law enacted with the 1982 Constitution and the developments in Turkish radio-TV sector after its enactment. We will also review the TRT?s broadcasts in Turkey and foreign countries via cable, the rise of private broadcasting, and the need for a new law for the regulation of radio-TV broadcasting. We will stress the history and development of TRT programs in Turkey, beginning of color broadcasting, the establishement of TRT, private TV broadcasts, cable broadcasting in foreign countries, the relations of TRT with the other Turkic Republics and its development until now. The third chapter will throughoutly discuss the TRT Avaz which broadcasts in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Caucasian and Balkan countries, Russian Federation, Ukraine, and Moldova, and even in autonomous republics in these countries. We will review the aim of its establishment, and its development; and we will study ?Yenigün? program, which is broadcasted in various Turkish dialects and accets (Kazakh, Azerbaijani, Uzbek, Turcoman, Kyrgyz), as our case study, and will focus especially to its Kazakh version.
